About the quality of life…

Dear Jeyamohan,

I listened to your speech on quality of life. I have similar thoughts, which I got from my own life. Your words gave my thought a correct form; thank you for that. We never think about the quality of life these days. We imagine a good future, and living our present for that, we lose our present for that future. We work, we save, and we strive—this is the life we have today. And we imagine that quality of life means the amount of consumption we have. House, car, dress, and electronic materials. Yes, we cannot avoid them today. But quality of life should be measured by the happiness and fulfillment we have. Happiness is not in consumption; it is in achievement and learning. We are teaching our kids that consumerism is the only happiness in life, and then when they plunge into it deeply, we start crying foul. Your speech gives a clear direction. Thank you.
