Dear Jey,
I heard from friends about the conversations that took place at the Guru Nithya Kaviyam camp. I had registered to attend this time, but I was unable to make it. Complaining about the pressures of modern office work wouldn’t be a valid excuse, because many people participate in these events while setting aside even critical, urgent tasks. However, it is a fact that the financial crises we get ourselves into—and the resulting obligations—often prevent us from doing the things we truly wish to do. There is no one else to blame for this.
I was told that intense discussions took place across various genres—poetry, short stories, and novels—at the Kaviyam camp. Even more profound, apparently, were the one-on-one interactions with individual writers outside the formal sessions. I heard particularly wonderful things about the conversations that took place among the women participants.
May Guru Nithya’s blessings be upon them all. Such events must continue to take place, and I hope to participate in one, at least by next year.
