Respected Sir,
I am always interested in history but couldn’t learn anything Above Mr.Ramachandra Guha. Regarding world history listened and read Yuval Noah Harari. Since long time I am searching wnd confused where to start for this.
And I am sure there are many like me. Can u please guide us where we have to start and what’s the way forward to learn the true facts about history.
Thanks & Regards,
Anbu Subash.
Dear Anbu,
The only way to study history is to start with a good general introduction book. But usual textbooks prescribed by UPS coaching centers are not useful. They are full of data, and we cannot memorize data easily. Therefore, choosing a historical narrative with a personal touch is crucial.
The Discovery of India, written by Jawaharlal Nehru, is a good book to start with. The Wonder That Was India by A.L. Basham is also a good book. They give you a comprehensive picture of the history and culture of India. After a favorable start, you can proceed based on your taste and ability. You will find your books.
