Philosophy and Books

Dear Jeyamohan,

The speech about reading philosophy was an eye-opener. I have been reading philosophy books for a long time. After a long journey, I have found that my selection of books has been largely accidental, rather than intentional. A teacher or an institution usually has a syllabus with set books accordingly, which allows for gradual progress. An accidental selection creates an orderless order, leading us to imagine concepts that we cannot fully understand. It’s like reading tenth-grade texts before reading second-grade books. The confusion and misunderstanding result in a permanent loss. I have no time to correct this now, as I am already seventy.
