Being a woman…

Dear Jeyamohan,

I watched your video on women and their lives. It is true that family can be the greatest burden for any woman who wants to be free and live her life. This is known to every woman, yet the desire for children often drives women into that trap.

In India, family is often defined by cooking, and the household is centered around the kitchen. We see this in our daily conversations; “kitchen” is a word we use frequently. We are part of a community that cooks every day, and our cooking is among the most complicated in the world.

I believe that freedom is the first condition for achieving other spiritual and intellectual pursuits. One day, our women will come to understand this.

Vaidehi.
