Letters poured in, praising Dr. Mariraj’s introductory modern medicine class for its simplicity and intensity.
Modern medicine is a part of our daily lives, but we don’t know much about it; the majority of what we do know comes from hearsay and imagination, which makes us susceptible to fake medicine. Knowing properly can save us from hundreds of everyday problems. It is especially important if there are children or elderly people in our house.
It is medicine, and information about diseases is not education. We learn in a class about the peculiar functioning of the body and our connection to it. Education changes the way we see ourselves.
