The Rational movement introduced by EVR in Tamil Nadu has certainly achieved some success in social and intellectual domains, but it is now largely considered a failed and obsolete concept. The reason for this perception is that it never promoted scientific thinking. It promoted a simplistic and mundane form of logic to address various issues. That logic actually worked with the common man while talking about his faiths and beliefs. However, it struggled to compete with the well-articulated logical systems found in various religions. Religions use images and metaphors to communicate their doctrine, and art is their tool. The ‘common man logic’ of EVR could not evaluate art, and it actually trivialized it. Lack of scientific approach and artistic sensibility is the reason for its failure. Today these Periyarists are the most idiotic emotional fools. They hold various racist beliefs and reject any logical arguments with utmost rage. What a fall!
