An Experience with Art

Dear J,

I am writing to share my experience after completing Jayakumar’s temple art class. You have chosen an exceptional expert. JK sir is well-versed in various composite arts, including temple art, devotional literature, and other temple-related arts, as well as epitaph reading and singing. Moreover, his approach to conducting the class—marked by humility and a moderate sense of humor—instilled confidence in participants from diverse faith backgrounds, which I found very admirable. We are eagerly anticipating his next-level class and the opportunity to travel to temples and art galleries with him.

I have already participated in the Vyapasana training camp led by Amalan Stanley. It is truly inspiring to consider that you are taking on work typically done by an entire institution. I pray to the venerable Ramakrishna, Mother Sarada, and Vivekananda to bless you with long life and excellent health.

As always, Anthiyur Mani and his team arranged everything exceptionally well. The food was delightful, and the atmosphere offered a sense of solitude, complemented by the sound of the peacock. I enjoyed a morning walk with friends to the tea shop and made new acquaintances at the elephant hut, including Shahul Hameed, Thangavel, and his son Amuthan. After dinner, we shared a sweet song, featuring performances by JK, Kavi, Hema, and a few others, followed by Sivadarshini’s dance. Additionally, I appreciated the freedom from my mobile phone (I didn’t turn it off because it was a Vodafone connection—it was very comfortable).

All of these experiences were truly enjoyable.

I am 50 years old, and it is embarrassing to realize that I have been unaware of such basic things for so long. While one could blame the educational system, parents, or my environment, I recognize that I am ultimately responsible. I have taken steps toward improvement and have vowed to honor any opportunities that come my way without wasting them.

I recently learned that there is a first-level Indian philosophy class from September 19 to 21. Unfortunately, I failed to notice this information in time. I believe the registration period has already closed. If there is still a spot available, or if any of my friends are unable to attend at the last minute, please let me know, and I would love to join. Otherwise, I will wait for the next opportunity.

Thank you once again.

Best regards,

Su Ravichandran
