Dear Jayamohan,
I watched the video of Chaitanya discussing Friedrich Nietzsche, a significant figure in modern political theory. He presented the ideology of the Superman, and Chaitanya explains it with extraordinary clarity. Chaitanya smiles as he asserts that Hegel originally conceived the idea of the Übermensch, and Nietzsche merely elaborated on it. However, people hold Nietzsche accountable for this ‘end of history’ concept, while no one blames Hegel for it.
The term “Übermensch” was extremely dangerous and influenced millions of people around the globe. I wonder if the ideology behind the term is more dangerous; ideology cannot translate into power, but a word can. Hitler used the term “Übermensch” as a simple weapon to justify the killing of thousands, even millions, of people. A word can be more dangerous than any concept or idea.
The discussion was a very original and easy one. Thank you.
