CREATIVE CHILDREN- A LETTER

Dear Jeyamohan,

Your video on dealing with creative children is a timely and valuable one. Most experts usually speak about ordinary children and their characteristics. In recent years, there has also been greater attention given to children with special needs. However, creative children belong to an entirely different category. They have their own unique world, temperament, and ways of understanding life. They are often wanderers, loners, and dreamers.

Yet, we tend to treat them as ordinary children and try to guide them with our limited understanding of their nature. Your attempt to enter their world, understand them, and patiently guide them is truly commendable.

Equally important is the way you present yourself as the father of a creative child. By doing so, you offer an example for other parents to follow. In our society, creativity is rarely valued on its own; success is often considered the only measure of worth. You proudly assert that success is common, whereas creativity is rare and precious. In doing so, you uphold and demonstrate a value that is both uncommon and deeply needed today.
