Dear J. Mohan,
Listening to music is a form of meditation, but meditation itself needs to be learned and practised properly. Being in nature can also be a form of meditation, and that too requires a certain sensitivity and awareness.
In the West, essential music education is introduced at the elementary-school level, and this early training becomes a foundation that stays with children throughout their lives. In India, unfortunately, we provide very little exposure to art and music in our children’s education. As a result, many grow up without an appreciation of the fine arts and are easily drawn towards cheap commercial forms of entertainment.
Your attempt to introduce children to the fundamentals of music is therefore a wonderful and meaningful initiative. My sincere appreciation for this effort.
Raj Kumar
