The Temple Arts classes conducted by Jayakumar are being held again. These classes have been conducted continuously for the past four years, with nearly a thousand people having participated so far. Many of them have formed small groups and continue to undertake temple visits, both with Jayakumar and independently.
These classes are a starting point—the first step in a lifelong journey into art and spirituality.
Temples are among the great treasures of our heritage. Each one can be regarded as a book. But if we do not know how to read them, they remain merely objects to us. By learning about the architecture of temples and the artistic traditions embodied in their sculptures, the temples suddenly begin to speak to us. Every visit reveals new details and subtleties.
They gradually become profound experiences of art, sources of philosophical insight, and pathways towards spiritual realization.
