Philosophy and Self-learning -Letter

Dear Jeyamohan

This article on philosophy and self-learning is excellent. I can say this from personal experience. I was an avid reader of modern semiphilosophical works by JK, Osho, and other masters. I used to take notes and often refer to their quotes in my talks. But when confronted with a real spiritual problem at the age of 43, I was let down by the books. I sought guidance from a genuine teacher and an institution.

When I started learning real philosophy systematically, I became aware of all my mistakes. What I had previously learned was not philosophy; these were masters’ thoughts. I simply memorized their lines and imagined the rest. It actually furled my ego and made me a fool. Philosophy is a system that requires proper learning. A real master who has personally known us should monitor our learning process. Thank you for the article.
