The video on secularism and religious faith has broadened my perspective. I am a believer, an ardent Vaishnavite, and belong to the Ramanuja order. But I am not a religious fanatic, and I never vote for BJP. I don’t believe in religious politics. I think politics must be based on economic issues, and it should be rational.
I am not rational in every field. I can’t be rational in every field, and I know that no one else can either. Despite my irrational and spiritual religious beliefs, I have a very logical work ethic. Similarly, I am emotional about family ties, and at the same time, I am very logical about political matters. But I am labeled by those ‘secular fanatics’ as a religious fanatic and always ridiculed and insulted. I always wore my ‘nama’; it is my religious ritual, not my political identity. But these secular fanatics are pushing me toward a side violently with their blindness. Actually, I am fighting with them on every level.
As you correctly say, these secular fanatics are encouraging our religious fascists.
