Writing to learn

Dear Jeyamohan,

I am listening for the first time you are speaking English. You are speaking fluently with some literary words. It is very interesting to listen to you thinking in English and delivering the thoughts with such clarity as in Tamil. A particular idea amused me. You said writing a novel is the best way to strengthen our skill in language. I thought if I wanted to write a novel in English, I should be well versed in English; you said the opposite. To become well versed in English, we have to write a novel. Right? We will be compelled to know more words and expressions, and then naturally we will learn the language with more attention and depth. Writing is a deep-minded process, and it compels us to learn with utmost attention. Indeed, yours is a great idea. Thank you.
