Realism and hope

Dear Jeyamohan,

I was watching your video on consolation and nature. I am shocked to see that you are expressing thoughts that mirror my own.

Our modern writers are often eager to dismantle all forms of human consolation, continuously presenting every possible negativity as the sole truth of human existence. In fact, the majority of these modern writers have no serious life experiences, and they are simple middle-class officegoers. They learn these ideas from translated literature and simple quotes of philosophy. They have nothing to say about their life.

Actually, writers like Cho Dharman have deeper life experience; they are still living a farmer’s life, but their writing has a deep sense of humor and a positive life vision. I was an ardent reader of modern Tamil literature. When I became ill and was in bed for more than a year, I had nothing to read in Tamil except some positive works.

Yes, we know life has many problems and toilings. But still we are living; no one is committing suicide. So we have some hope and dreams in life always with us. I want to read works balanced with that positive element. They are the real works, and I consider it realism, not the negativity articulated by our pseudowriters.
