Dear Jeyamohan,
The recent discussions on your site about Western music are exciting. There is currently no discussion of Western music and Western philosophy within the Tamil cultural context. We lack sufficient knowledge because there are no valid classes in our colleges for Western and Eastern philosophy because they are not job-oriented courses.
This lack of proper education is visible in any of our current intellectual discussions. Without proper academic support, it is impossible to learn Western philosophy. Reading from books creates only chaos and misunderstandings. Therefore, discussions that incorporate a proper academic background while primarily focusing on the creative aspects are truly exciting.
Understanding Western literature and art requires a thorough introduction to Western music. Unfortunately here the individuals talking about Western music are musicians who only know the technicalities of that music. Learning and discussing Western music with Western philosophy is an essential thing, and this new starting is a fascinating cultural phenomenon.
