Dear Jeyamohan,
The video on ritualism is sharp and eloquent. Yes, we are confusing ritualism with spiritualism. Particularly when I used to talk about North Indian Hindus, I felt it strongly. They often claim to be spiritual, yet they lack both civic sense and common sense. They believe every nonsensical claim made by silly so-called gurus. They develop hatred for other religions. They have meaningless beliefs and a kind of ridiculous mentality about all kinds of rational things. I believe without an element of rationalism and logic, real spiritualism can’t survive. We have powerful rational movements here in South India, and they helped us to discern what is logical and what is nonsense.

Dear Murugesh,
I don’t think so. The rational movement here taught us that earthly life and its pleasures are the main things in life, and we became very materialistic. We lose our traditional spirituality and forget to develop modern secular spirituality.
