The everyday Vedanta

Dear jeyamohan,

I watched your video on Vedanta. Generally, these days, only older people talk about the subject of Vedanta. Youngsters are primarily interested in political and sociological issues, believing these subjects are sufficient to understand human beings and life.

In fact, unless we have a clear philosophical core understanding, we cannot fully grasp sociological and political ideas either. You need to understand the concept of Vedanta if you are genuinely interested in understanding the country called India. Every common person in this subcontinent is trained in Vedanta through the language they imbibe from birth.

Just listen to the language around us; you can see many Vedantic ideas reflected in the language and expressions of ordinary people. So, without understanding Vedanta, one cannot understand India either. However, our youngsters believe they can comprehend India through Western notions created by scholars to understand their own countries.

It is a pleasant surprise to see that you are discussing Vedanta in a new way. Thank you.
