A way to Get away

 

Dear jeyamohan,

I was watching your video about how sad people are and how to get over it. You said that activities are controlled by the mind, and at the same time, activities change the mind. You need to do something to change your mind, and that will change your mind. You support constant activity as a way to change the mind, and you tell people to get involved in physical activities that are objective in nature.

This is a great way to do things because I did something similar to get over my own problems. I chose to help others as a way to get through the tragedy I was going through. Now that I think about it, I’m glad that those activities were fun because they kept my mind busy.

You said that the Geeta’s advice stresses how important it is to take action. Geeta says that people should do things instead of just sitting around, because a mind that is not busy is a breeding ground for sadness. You encourage people to do things that are good for them and for other people. In fact, doing things that are good for you can sometimes make things worse because of the stress and possible losses that come with them, especially when you’re depressed. However, doing things that help other people, like acts of service, can free us from our sadness because we feel good about giving, and there is no way to fail at these things.
