Dear Jeyamohan,
Your video on how our bodies adapt to the demands of contemporary machines presents a thought-provoking idea. Throughout history, human beings have continuously adjusted themselves to the tools and machines they used, and in turn those machines have shaped both the body and the mind. In many ways, human culture itself is a creation of these tools.
The machines of the past were generally large, physical, and closely connected to bodily activity. The machines we use today, however, are increasingly connected to the mind. We are still not fully aware of the profound nature of this transformation.
As these ultra-modern machines become an integral part of our lives, we must consciously adapt both our minds and our bodies to them. We need to discover our own ways of achieving this balance. A sound mind-body discipline may be the most effective path forward.
