Our master’s voice

Dear Jeyamohan,

I listened to your speech in English; it was ok. You have to develop your pronunciation. There are many online classes available to help improve your pronunciation. Herewith I send some suggestions for your pronunciation development.

JK

Dear JK,

Thank you for the link and the suggestions. I am not developing my English skills, and I have no idea how to develop them. What I am trying to do is think in English and develop new ideas while speaking, similar to how I do in Tamil. So I am trying to say something through the videos, it is a kind of practice.

I know about my pronunciation. Throughout my life, I never had a chance to speak English, so I never heard a lot of words I knew, not even once in my ears. So mistakes may happen; I will eventually correct them.

But, about the pronunciation, I have no other idea.Last year I was giving speeches in the USA, and the experts there told me  that I should not to mimic the accent of Westerners, particularly Americans. So I never did it. They advised me to speak in my own accent; they will try to understand it. My ideas and the originality in them are important.

Mimicking their accent and pronunciation makes me laughing material before them. It will depict me as a man with an inferiority complex and trying to imitate ‘better’ people. So I am not going to develop my language skills; instead, I am going to develop my thinking ability in English.

Thanking you

Jeyamohan
