Dear Jeyamohan,
When we met at Bangalore, you told me about the modern art classes you are organizing at your place while the Book Brahma event was going on. I checked out the details on your site and am really excited. I think the program is the first of its kind in India. At art colleges, art instructors offer classes on Western art. However, these courses primarily focus on technical aspects and do not address the cultural implications of Western art. As far as I know, only a few of our painters know about contemporary literature and have a real taste for reading. This deficiency is very obvious in their talk on art. A class with decent cultural affiliations for literary readers is a novel idea, and I hope young people are using this opportunity well.
