I often come to know, through announcements, that you meet readers at events such as book fairs. Why not organize regular meetings specifically for interacting with your readers? Wouldn’t that give readers an opportunity to speak with you directly and share their questions and thoughts?

Dear Ramkumar,
I have been conducting reader meetings on a regular basis. However, I prefer to spend my time with those who make the effort to come specifically to meet me.
There is little value in conversing with people who attend merely for entertainment or out of casual curiosity. A conversation becomes meaningful only when there is a genuine search on both sides.
As I grow older, I have become increasingly conscious of the value of time. So I have stopped going in search of readers wherever they happen to be. I would rather devote my time to those who genuinely wish to meet me and come for that purpose.
