Dear J
The discourse on Tamil literature has broadened my perspective. I had the impression that Tamil literature is an attempt to reach the global standard of literature, and there are some brave attempts, too. I now realize that Tamil literature possesses a distinct element, akin to a personal touch. Individuals make all these excellent attempts. In some ways, this approach is more appropriate than the approach used in Europe. Every cultural activity receives institutionalization here. It makes everything bigger and more powerful. But a personal thing is more correct because literature is both created and read personally.
