Dear Jeyamohan,
I am watching your videos regularly. I am an elderly man, now in my 90s. I can’t read because of an eye problem. I can listen and dream. At one point, I realized that social media was giving me negative emotions and ideas. They cater to individuals who lead a dull and prosaic life and yearn for a surge of adrenaline.
I asked myself why I was listening to these media presentations. I realized that I have two desires. First, I want to connect to the world and live as a social being. Second, I want to understand the core meaning of life that makes my life meaningful.
Social media and popular media are working in entirely opposite ways. Actually, they are making me an outsider and, at the same time, transferring the worries of our time to me in a magnified way. They are telling me continuously that life is meaningless and the only meaning in life is consuming things, which I can’t at this age.
I stopped the connection with all media and started to listen to philosophical discourses. To my surprise, they gave me the needed consolation and confirmation. I understood that I could only connect with the core of society and life, not with everyday affairs. I can be with the depth of this ocean, not with the waves of it.
Through philosophical discourses, I found you recently and I listen to your speeches almost daily. They are very profound and simple at the same time. Moreover, I am able to talk to you face-to-face with these videos. Slowly the conversation becomes a deep personal relationship. Thank you.
Sathyanarayananan MKR.
