Occasionally, I visit your website just to see whether there is any controversy going on there. I am not saying this to admit that I am a gossip-monger! Rather, I personally feel that a controversy often reveals the real conflicts and tensions that exist within society and the intellectual world.
I actually enjoy such intense discussions, even when they become impersonal and polemical. That is why I have been following the recent controversy surrounding the D-Talk days with considerable interest. I find these kinds of debates much more engaging than discussions in which everyone seems to agree with everyone else.
In fact, I would like to see more such vigorous discussions on your website. The Unified Wisdom websites, by comparison, sometimes feel a little dull to me because they tend to be one-sided and somewhat preachy. There is very little disagreement or intellectual friction there.
Perhaps controversy is not always a bad thing. Sometimes it makes people think, question their assumptions and reveal what they really believe. For a reader, that can be much more interesting than a perfectly harmonious presentation.
