Dear Jayamohan,
This is Naveen from Palakkad, Kerala.
I have been reflecting on a question and felt it would be most meaningful to hear your perspective. Sir, what do you believe has been and will continue to be the factor that propels the world forward? Is it science, art, philosophy, literature, culture, invention, or the institutions driven by vested interests and the pursuit of profit?
I would be deeply grateful for your thoughts on this.
Warm regards,
Naveen
Dear Naveen,
To be precise, we can never know the ultimate purpose of our existence because it is connected to the entire life on this globe, and it is a part of this universe. Can one understand the purpose or direction of the universe?
We are here because we have an instinct to exist. We are doing everything to survive and thrive. Every living being is doing it, and we are not a better being than any living being here. So, our duty is to perfectly synchronize our life with this enormous flow. Happiness and fulfillment are only achieved through conformity. All yogic systems teach just that.
Yes, vested interests and the pursuit of profit are here, and they are big driving forces of humanity. But the major strength of humanity is not that motive. Love, compassion, and understanding drive humanity for centuries. Knowledge and wisdom unite humanity.
If anyone can look into history, he can easily say how humanity created these basic elements slowly and how they are designing our lives. Just ask anyone one question: Why is he living? He would say he is living for his children. Our parent’s love and sacrifices raised us, and now we pass them on to our children. We are living here, believing in the culture and justice created by humanity.
Few people who lack historical understanding exhibit a negative attitude toward life. Two things stand out in their personalities: personal chaos in their life and a secret belief that they are good and everyone else is bad. It is, indeed, a silly belief.
Believe the benevolence that made your existence here; it is in nature and the cosmos. Give yourself to it; be with it. Asking questions like these implies that you view yourself as a unique individual and a supernatural entity, capable of comprehending the holistic truth through your limited personal reasoning.
