The Problem of Pessimism

Dear Jeyamohan,

The extreme optimism of your website does not inspire me. It does not match the facts I know. The shallowness of this optimism troubles me.

Sudeer

Dear Suder,

Okay, no optimism. Move forward in your way. Create a life for yourself with your pessimistic point of view. Why are you attempting to argue with someone who is trying to live optimistically? What causes you to feel disturbed?

Why are pessimists always looking at the optimists? Why are they so intent on breaking down the optimists by arguing with them?

Shouldn’t you sustain that deep-seated pessimism? No pessimist can do that. They persistently attempt to converse with the optimists. Why?

Because his pessimism lacks depth. “Please break my pessimism,” he persistently begs the optimists. He hopes that they can rescue him.

This letter is also one such plea. I’ve written those words of optimism specifically for you, my friend.

These are not mere arguments. So do not argue with them. If you argue with me and contradict my words, I have nothing to lose. These are some practical guidelines from my personal experiences in life. Try them or ignore them.

This is a disagreement between personal points of view, so do not engage in arguments. If you want to know the truth, try to practice what you are believing.
