Dear J,
I saw a message on your site about the Ayurveda training you are organizing. I think I can put forth my doubt. Learning Ayurveda through the Gurukul system requires a significant amount of time. Colleges have taught it for many years. Can we teach it in a day or two? What is the benefit of knowing art like that?
Senthil Rajapathi
Dear Senthil,
The goal of this camp is not to teach people how to practice Ayurveda. This is a camp to introduce Ayurveda to the general public and to those who use it. No system of medicine is simple to learn.
The objectives of this camp are as follows.
A. Patients should know the nature and basics of medicine. They should approach it knowing what a medical system is good forand what it does or does not do. There should be neither excessive faith nor pessimism about medicine. This is a training that provides that introduction.
B. Even those who do not have any disease should be introduced to medical systems. The basics of medicine teach us health and fundamental principles. It is helpful for everyone. Medical news keeps coming to us through our ears. We cannot avoid them. We do not pay attention to them properly. Therefore, they remain in our memory incompletely. As a result, we have various misconceptions, illusions, and fears. They harm our health. Introducing medicine will suddenly provide clarity. We will be shocked to know how absurd many of our understandings are.
E. Modern medicine provides a very scientific understanding of anatomy, disease, and treatment. Ayurveda has been here for a long time. It has more understanding than modern medicine about our seasons, the environment around us, our plants, and our food. It also approaches us by considering our soul, our body, and our tradition. Therefore, its method is different. It presents a balanced approach based on body and mind. Knowing that will give us a necessary insight into our well-being. We hold introductory Ayurveda classes for this purpose.
