Why not Astrology?

Why not alternate medicine?

Dear Jeyamohan

I think astrology can be added to the holistic education of the ‘Unified Wisdom’ organisation. Today, astrology is taught as a science in various universities, like Sastra. Astrology should be combined with meditation and yoga. It is said that meditation and yoga cannot be learned without astrology.

Dear Santana Krishnan

The Muzhumaiyarivu organisation basically belongs to the tradition of Narayana Guru. Narayana Guru belonged to the philosophical tradition of Shankara. Its philosophy is Advaita Vedanta. Its principle is that ‘pure knowledge’ is the path to truth.

Therefore, the principle propounded by Narayana Guru is that all aspects of knowledge are complementary, and therefore all knowledge leads to truth. On that basis, all sciences, arts, and spiritual practices are taught here.

But the Sankara Vedanta tradition does not accept astrology. This universe is the dance of Brahman. Brahmanjnana or Atmanjnana (knowledge of Brahman, knowledge of oneself) are the ways to achieve it. All knowledge is directed towards that ultimate knowledge.

Narayana Guru said that Brahman cannot be measured by 12 Rasis. The debate is not whether astrology is true or not; I am not ready to argue. It is against our tradition and the way we stand.

We agree with all wisdom in this world; nothing is against us. All religious schools are accepted here. But ways of anti-wisdom are not agreeable. For example, rigorous Hatayoga practices, secret Tanric rituals, sacrificial rituals, etc.

Thanks

Jeyamohan
