Not only did the kids and their parents enthusiastically welcome the bird-watching event we organized last summer. We intended it to be an event for college students and high school students. But the participants are mostly very young. Elder students are already addicted to various forms of media. Their parents were unable to bring them out. Many have written to us requesting that we speak to their children. We have said that it is useless.
Amazingly, the camp helped youth escape from social media and reconnect with nature. It was a new discovery. No other class teaches both patience and taste in observing nature, such as bird watching. The youth and their parents have registered three-fourths of the seats this time.
A winter bird watching event is coming up.
October 11, 12, and 13
Children can attend, as these are Navratri holidays. Parents or elders must accompany children under 10 years of age.
Bird watching is the beginning of a world of pleasant experiences that will last a lifetime. Experts in the field provide the best guidance for familiarizing oneself with the types and sounds of birds and learning how to observe them. Vijayasarathy and Iswaramurthy will conduct the training.
The training will take place in a natural jungle environment, a fenced, protected forest. This is very different from bird watching in an aviary or zoo. In this way, we see nature as a whole. The sighting of a bird, its method of observation, and its likelihood of sighting all occur by chance. The first fundamental aspect of bird watching is the practice of waiting for it. The joy lies in the pleasant surprise it brings.
